The Settlement

At first, you wouldn’t think that a work of art inside that box is possible. You may think that it is just a room for the workers or a public restroom in the middle of the sunken garden. There were  no posters or anything that is posted outside the box.

As you walk closer to the box, you can see the sign “Tuloy po kayo”. This work of art is done by Mark Justiniani.

As you enter thru the door, darkness is present. You can first see a glass that contains breads and a can.

Looking down thru this glass floor, I was scared to walk thru the glass floor because it really looks like a deep hole.

This artwork is really amazing. The illusion and the artworks inside the box will remind you about the history of our country, specifically the Martial law era. The darkness inside the room, the scary glass floor and the empty meeting rooms of the government. You must see and appreciate this artwork.

Mabini, Batangas

We were all again gathered in a tiring but happy and enjoyable trip to Batangas. We didn't just go hiking this time. This time, we tried scuba diving.

We departed 5am at UP Gym going to Batangas. We were all prepared for the adventure on that day.

As we are on the way to Batangas, we are all stucked at the traffic jam in Bauan, Batangas area. We were all bored inside the van. All of us really wanted to go outside and walk.

Our first stop is scuba diving. We were all in a hurry going to the diving area because of the time consumed in the traffic jam. We were all in a hurry preparing ourselves for the dive.

It was my first time to try scuba diving. When it was my turn to dive, I never thought that I was able to do it. I was so nervous at that time. I was having a hard time breathing in the oxygen tank. After having a hard time trying to breathe under the water, I was able to control my breathing. I enjoyed the beautiful corals and fishes under the water.

After scuba diving, we ate our packed lunch in the seaside.

After eating lunch, we rode again in the van and go straight to Mt. Gulugod. Our professor and the facilitators decided not to climb the mountain anymore because of the bad weather. Instead of walking towards the campsite, we go straight to the camp site riding our van.

After we arrived at the camp site, we enjoyed the beautiful view at the camp site. The weather on the top of the mountain that afternoon was perfect.

We immediately prepared all the things we are going to use in the campsite. We started setting up our tents, the stoves and the foods.

We cooked chicken wings and sinigang for dinner. The sinigang's soup was perfect to the weather up there.

A dog striking a pose on the top of the mountain.

I was enjoying the view before the sunset.

The peak of the mountain was 5-6 minute walk from the campsite. Before the sunset, we are all gathered and walked towards the peak to enjoy the beautiful sunset there.

After eating our dinner, we go to the parking lot to buy a coffee because the weather at night was so cold.

When we get back from the parking lot, the class was gathered for a short activity. All the groups participated to present a short show for the class. Some prepared a short skit, some sang and some recited a poem.

 Foggy morning

While we are cooking our breakfast, we enjoyed watching the sunrise.

Fried chicken wings again for our breakfast.

The experience was superb. We were all happy because we got the opportunity to explore that beautiful mountain in Batangas and to experience scuba diving. It was all because of our subject, Ped174. I will definitely go back there someday.
